This season frustrated me so much because I just wanted more of it! More Penelope and Colin time. They are my favorite couple by far. The scene outside the modiste felt a little forced the first time I watched it, too. But, then I went back and rewatched and realized that their most passionate moments are always accompanied by some sort of declaration of love. Their feelings are what drives their passion. So, her declaring herself so forcefully was the hottest thing she could have possibly done in Colin's eyes. Also, they had both been drinking. And they're in their twenties. A light breeze could get them going at that age.

Funny thing is Rose, Tatum's actress, COULD fit all the way through the cat flap, she fell out during one of the takes and messed up her shoulder!

So 7 is one of my favourites of season 3 and probably my favourite of part two. Love the wedding and dance and I love the angst too. The opening is played so well by Luke. And I love the scene outside the modiste. You have to remember Colin is questioning everything now he knows she’s been keeping this secret from him. He was scared in ep 5 she didn’t return his feelings and he’s unsurprisingly confused here. Plus he think s he has to be of use to her to have a purpose, so her saying she can take care of herself makes him feel useless. The fact she so strongly declares her love, he can see it that it’s the truth and I love how it stuns him, before all that passion comes out between them. Plus let’s not forget they’re both tipsy here, hence letting the passion spill out on the street.

This season felt the most real to me. Colin was insecure (especially where men didn't have to deal with their wives being successful & challenging those gender roles.) At the end of the day, she's Lady Whistledown & he's jealous of that. It's a big deal for him to deal with those feelings. To people-pleaser Colin Bridgerton, Penelope telling him she loves him for who he is, not for the "strong facade" men are expected to put on means a lot. After the whole Marina situation in season 1, he tried to act like his brothers. Much like Penelope being reckless as Lady Whistledown at first (she regrets some of the things she wrote) but, she's not allowed to express these emotions directly because she's a woman. She's learning how to be more bold in her real life. This season felt like both Colin & Penelope being more honest about who they are. Colin dropping the facade & being a nerdy lover-boy and Penelope asking for what she wants in real life.

Cole fails at EVERY TURN! And STILL gets rewarded. He sent a twin to certain death against his brother. Ser Cole is Joffrey in Dornish coloring.

When you think about how emotions are connected to physical intimacy for Colin it might not feel forced then! We see that before and after he finds out about LW his insecurity is that he is not worthy of Pen’s love. So he feels like if he does things for her and proves his worth then he can feel deserving of her love. Her “I love you” in response to his “what good am I to you” elicits such a reaction because she is saying that is his worth. You don’t have to do anything but be yourself for me to love you and he’s earned her love by being him long ago. So, hearing that his love is returned by his best friend who sees him and understands him unlike anyone else brings about that response. Because the emotional and the physical are connected for him! That’s why a lot of fans say Colin is demisexual coded.

Polin needed more screentime like this episode I liked especially the street fight but it needed much more dialogue I loved the kiss but it felt like it came out of nowhere

Colin has low self esteem- he genuinely believes he isa not good enough for pen- he second guess that she wants to be with him atleast twice after getting engaged so he needed to hear penn say I love you twice to reaffirm it to snap him out of it- he really doesn't believe he deserves someone as wonderful as penn and is also jealous of her success which is obvious durring that conversation when he says what is the most humiliating was talking about his writing saying how great it is and yet she is published and he is not so how can he actually be a good writer (inner thoughts)

I love your reactions so much! They're my favorite (and I watch a lot of reactions). About what you said, that Penelope and Colin's situation looked similar to Daphne and Simon's. I think they're quite different, because Penelope and Colin actually respect each other enough to take the time to work through their problems, to figure out their feelings. So many of Daphne and Simon's interactions, and Kate and Anthony's too, in their own seasons, are more about lust, and fighting their own feelings, than actually respecting the other person. I'm not saying that they don't love each other, but the beginning of both of their love stories wasn't actually very healthy.

I personally love this season. I adore Pen and Colin, their love evolved from friendship which the others didn’t. The only thing that bothered me about this episode was that the Queen barged in to their wedding reception and sent everyone away. I thought that was so disrespectful.

I loved your reaction. I actually found you watching Heartstopper reactions a while ago, and i always thought that you are such a sweet person. You shine through your emotions, you know? That's why your reactions are so lovely. You sparkle! A true diamond ❤ And I relate because I was very emotive too while watching this episode. 3x07 slowly but surely became my favourite episode of S3. I think that commiting to your partner when things are not completely right but love is still strong is a testemony to what a true marriage is. And in this episode that is a lot of love in the pain they are feeling. It's touching. Two of my favorite scenes are in this episode, the confrontation/kiss outside the modiste and that beautiful pride and prejudice wedding dance. Why the Queen had to ruin their wedding breakfast??? About the kiss outside the modiste, I think Colin was in a state of mind where he was questioning Penelope's love for him. Maybe that's why he said that line about entrapment, given his history with Marina in S1. He is feeling a lot of mixed emotions, he is angry, he has a bit of a hero complex, a wounded ego, sadness, fear. But he also loves her, and when he asks "what good am I to you?" He is saying that he isn't worth of her love because she doesn't need him. Because as Violet said in episode 4, he is always trying to please others. To be useful. And Pen just says "I love you" meaning he doesn't need to save her to be worth of her love. Something no one said to him. Marina used his hero complex against him, to actually entrap him. While Pen is implying "you don't need to do that with me" There is a lot of negativity online around this season, most of what I saw came from book readers that didn't like the changes to Colin character. But the reviews from big sites are really good. And I enjoyed a lot, it's my favourite season. Most people loved it, but haters are loud. There is a lot of subtle homophobia, too. I suspect that future seasons will suffer even more with online hate because it seems like they are doing a lot of changes in the next seasons, that will lead to completely change stories from the books. We'll see.

My only complaint about this season is the same one I had about s2. The main couple NEEDED MORE SCREEN TIME! Don't get me wrong, I like Benedict, I do. He's funny, but honestly, other than that, he's kind of boring. s1 he had about nothing to do, while the other characters at least had something going on (Eloise/Pen + Colin/Pen/Marina + Anthony/Actress woman + Anthony being a dick to Daphne + Violet being the best mom ever + Simon/Will). In s2 they gave him some potential with the art storyline, but now they completely forgot about that. This season was so bad for him. Nobody really care about his fuckfest with Tilly and the other guy. If they cut his sex scenes in half we could've had more focus on the main couple. In s2 it was frustrating to me for the same reason. I wanted more focus on Kanthony. We didn't even get to see their wedding for christ's sakes! And that season irked me because the main "obstacle" for the couple was of Anthony's own making. The drama felt cheap because he was the one creating it because he was a stubborn asshole, while Kate was perfect (ily Kate). This season was better in terms of that because at least we had many scenes of Polin being actually happy (before and some even after the big reveal), and I felt the tension, and Colin's anger was actually justified (who the hell likes being lied to?), but still I think we needed more. It was lacking a little bit in that department. Either they could cut Benedict's expendable storyline in half (honestly, everyone knows he would not end up with Tilly, and if Sophie isn't a man, the bisexual storyline was useless) or add two more episodes. They did neither and I think that was a disservice to season. Other than that, I really loved it. This couple is def my favorite so far.

This is my favorite season by far. POLINs relationship is more realistic which I like.

i actually love this season way more than season 2 and i know it may be different for others but personally i enjoyed how more realistic Polin felt. maybe i just love friends to lovers more and enemies lol season 2 it took until the last ep for them to be together. love kate though 😭where as with colin and pen i feel like we see more of them navigating through the difficulties. i actually liked the argument in the alley and the nod during the aisle walk, i feel like it shows how even though he is still upset he still loves her and wants to marry her. this season just touched me more also because it touches on other subjects like the friendship, siblings, mother to daughter. i just love colin and pen 💛

Not to make you more emotional (though i do love how open you are, it's so wonderful and touching to see!) but Colin's reaction to seeing Penelope first walk down the aisle was Luke, the actor, genuine reaction as the director made sure he didn't see Nicola in her brides outfit before the take!

After rewatching this season (this season is my fave! so take this as it is), I understand the modiste street scene but I can also see where you're coming from. I think the whole scene was a slap to his face. This is the first time someone truly said how they love him for JUST being him. He has been pretending, he had been insecure (his family thinks he's a chore when he's talking about his travels, everyone thinks he's immature for not sowing his wild oughts and for not being a rake "man") and now he's questioning himself as a writer because he can brag and proud about it to Pen but then Pen is THE lady whistledown. Everything is collapsing until he heard how Pen loved him for being him and to declare that she truly loves him. He will always be enough. I might be stretching but i just wanna say my take hehe :)) hope you guys feel the same and I hope you enjoy this season like I did! 💛

i had the same thought with the street kiss, i feel like it needed even just a couple more lines of dialogue before the kiss. I think Colin, before she said i love you, truly thought she didn''t actually love him - he's very insecure and feels unworthy of her (as he said in ep 6) but to hear her finally actually say the words i think took him off guard. He gives me demisexual vibes too and i think with how emotional and stressed they both are, it just temporarily overcame both of them hence the kiss. But still... a few more lines of dialogue, like maybe him not believing her or something about her feelings would make it feel less jarring and forced

Tbh so many scenes this season felt forced and the actors have so much chemistry in real life so I don’t get it 😭 I enjoyed this season but it will never beat season 2 for me lmao. Can’t wait for episode 8 reaction!
